Imagination or Money?
I don’t own much but don’t feel sorry for me. I don’t own a house. I don’t have the pink slip for my vehicle. I don’t own a dining room set or a full size refrigerator. I don’t own any animals. Does one own animals? I don’t own a stove or a picket fence. I don’t own a 50 inch or larger TV. I don’t own a lot of expensive clothes and I don’t own a boat. I don’t own 1000 thread count bed sheets. I don’t own a coffee or end tables. I don’t own a garage and soon no couch.
I don’t own an expensive cell phone nor do I have a home phone. I don’t own a time share or any rental property. I don’t own any popular stock and I don’t own any gold. I don’t own any expensive eye glasses or dental implants. I down own a grave plot. I don’t own an office building or expensive figurines from another country. I don’t own any designer shoes or purses. I don’t own any expensive jewelry. I don’t own any sports memorabilia or a Netflix subscription. I don’t own a big luxury pool or an Instagram account.
The only thing I truly own is my imagination. I got imagination and I’m good with that. If I truly wanted everything that I listed above I could have it because I know I have the creative imagination to bring it into my life. Now I’m not saying I don’t have access to some of those things, I just don’t own them. I guess I’m not attached to “stuff” like a dining room set. Why do I need a dining room table and chairs? I don’t have kids so I guess to entertain? I’d rather go to a restaurant. I like wide open space with only the minimum necessities.
I’m so grateful to have a creative imagination. I would not switch it for a Tesla or a mansion on the hill and I’m not kidding. I can go deep into my mind and imagine things that can’t even be made in reality. I can imagine being on the moon or in the center of the earth. I can imagine a million dollars in my bank account or imagine sailing on a boat. The real thing is nice of course, but with my imagination I can spend that million in my mind and never pay taxes. I can drive 400 miles in a BMW that doesn’t exist yet. I can see myself in my woman cave with my spouse watching a movie that I created from my imagination. I can imagine anything that I see in reality.
I don’t need a bunch of stuff to keep my mind occupied and I’m not coping out. I was really materialistic at one time so it’s ok to have wonderful things, but I know that having imagination is the most important thing in our lives. Because everything and I mean everything you see in reality came from someone’s imagination.
6/11/19 Update
I wrote the above recently and I have already evolved. Now the question is would I prefer to be creative or rich? Now? Rich! But as long as I can remember I was holding myself back by giving creativity too much value. Imagination is important but now I’d rather have the dollars. Gary Halbert asked that question…he said there are a a lot of creative people on welfare! That was a deep statement and he’s right…I’m grateful that’s not me.
