I’m reading several books and in one this guy talks about the inventors of the airplane, electricity, telephone etc. with the point being that all great inventors have been ridiculed and most of them called “mad, ridiculous, insane, and crackpots. I’m not saying what you write or invent will be on the same level of ridicule but imagine what those inventors went through with people talkin’ shit about them!

There were no computers for haters to hide behind so they snickered and talked behind the backs of some of the worlds greatest inventors, masterminds and writers. Now that’s in your face ridicule. Can you take it? People talkin’ shit about what you write, produce, create or say?

You might as well get used to it because in this internet age there will always be some hater that’s got an opinion so you might as well expect it and dust it off your shoulders. I’m not too good with ridicule but I’m getting better as I’m not so quick to respond and go through the back and forth exchange of non verbal words with people I don’t know. A book that helped me Resilience: Facing Down Rejection and Criticism on the Road to Success by Mark McGuinness has a few good gems.

I’m writing about ridicule and resilience because someone responded to a post when I said I was gonna top a particular writer and the person was like basically “not in this life time” and I instantly lit into the guy and told him that Writer X is not my savior and all it would take is for me to write one blockbuster film or book to surpass him. Writer X ain’t even world known, but the point is I was irritated and reacted to the ridicule. So can I take it? Yeah I can. I just don’t like nobody telling me I can’t achieve something as good as someone else on earth.

My resilience is building through writing and not to give a F about the opinions of talkin’ heads.
