…you are writing for yourself. William Zinsser is the famous writer of On Writing Well. There are billions of people on the planet, and you can’t write for them all as every reader is different. He says you don’t try to guess what a reader wants because sometimes they don’t know until they read it. He says write what you want, but don’t clutter your words or have endless typos. Just keep it simple and rewrite.

Zinsser says the key to writing well is rewriting and the best way to keep your audience interested is to use the “I” word. Now I didn’t say that he did as there are those that would say otherwise.

You are writing to please yourself, and if you enjoy what you write, you will attract those people who like your style. Either a reader will appreciate your work or not.

William says work hard to master the writing tools, edit, strive for order and you’ll get your audience!
